The Utility Worker is responsible for safely performing janitorial and general labor duties as assigned by management. Quality service is expected to be provided to customers at all times. Knowledge and willingness to learn all aspects of the job as it pertains to this position. Assist with staff or outside groups using the school for programs, special events, or assemblies. Perform set up and tear down of tables, chairs, stage, and audiovisual equipment. Assist with training users on equipment as needed. Troubleshoot equipment problems. May lock/unlock areas for access for building use and events. Sweep, vacuum, and/or mop flooring. Scrub tile and concrete floors. Empty trash cans and deposit trash in appropriate receptacles. Replace trash liners neatly and clean trash bins and lids- inside and out. Clean ground level interior and exterior glass windows and doors. Dust accessible surfaces and furniture. Disinfect phones. Clean baseboards, vents and door jams. Clean restroom: sinks, counters, toilets, urinals, dispensers, etc. Re-stock paper products and soap.
Meet eligibility requirements for work assignment on specified contract.
Understand oral and/or written instructions.
Interact appropriately with customers, government personnel and staff members.
Must be able to pass organization screening requirements including state or federal background screenings as appropriate.
May travel to and from various locations and buildings throughout the year and in various weather conditions. Most work will take place indoors. May work with cleaning chemicals. Will be required to follow Emergency Operations Work Assignment per customer requirements. Schedules are subject to change. May require working early morning, mid-morning, afternoon and/or evening hours as well weekends and Holidays.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to bend, crouch, walk, climb stairs and ladders, reach above head, sit (to drive) and lift up to 40 pounds. Will occasionally be required to lift or move up to 50 pounds. May be required to remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas, using snow shovels or snow plows.
