The Steward/Night Cleaner is responsible for sanitizing all kitchen areas and equipment, ensuring all food preparation and service areas' proper cleanliness. This individual must work independently overnight in the kitchen.


  • Understand oral and/or written instructions. 
  • Interact appropriately with customers, government personnel and staff members. 
  • Meet eligibility requirements for work assignment on specified contract.
  • Must be able to pass organization screening requirements including state or federal background screenings as appropriate. 

Job Functions:

  • Clean and sanitize all kitchen equipment, stoves, ovens, grills, prep tables, etc.
  • Clean and sanitize all kitchen areas, floors, and walls.
  • Provide heavy-duty cleaning of ovens, hoods, grills, sinks, walls, floors, and other heavy equipment.
  • Wash tile floors in all food and beverage areas.
  • Attend GCE in-service training as required.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing this job's duties, the team member is regularly required to stand and walk and frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The team member is required to be on his/her feet for extended periods. The team member frequently must walk, stand, bend, carry and lift. This job will require lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds. Exposure to extreme temperatures due to steam and heat from cooking, dishwashing, and refrigeration. Work area subject to high noise levels, sharp tools and cutting hazards. Schedules are subject to change.
  • Most work will take place indoors. Will work with cleaning chemicals. Will be required to follow Emergency Operations Work Assignment per customer requirements. Schedules are subject to change. Will require working early morning, mid-morning, afternoon, and/or evening hours and weekends and holidays.

The hourly rate for this position is $11.98.
