Description/Job Summary

Overview

Provide services which support recovery and build resilience. Maintain knowledgeable of the population(s) served and awareness of the impact substance abuse and mental illness has on an individual and family. Maintain awareness of the importance of language and avoids stigmatizing language and conduct. Take accurate vital signs and appropriately monitors vital signs. Accurately and appropriately administer, supervise, and chart medications. Provide individualized person centered services. Must be able to exert a force (lift, carry, push, or pull) 10-25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly. Must be able to talk and hear. Must be able to drive a facility automobile. Vision requirements include close and distance vision. Must be able to lift files/documents up to 5 lbs and carry them, as needed. Must be able to escort clients around program and campus. Long periods of sitting ( two to four hours per session). Travel to and from customer’s place of residence. Must be able to performance the de-escalation techniques of crisis prevention intervention including the physical intervention techniques.

Qualifications

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent. At least two (2) years of experience working directly with seriously emotionally disturbed children or seriously mentally ill adults or completed two years (48 hours) of college classes or certified as a behavioral health technician or mental health professional.
  • Works under the supervision of a bachelor’s (minimum) level practitioner or Registered Nurse.
  • Must be able to provide individualized, integrated mental health, substance abuse and co-occurring services to meet the needs of individuals served and their families, as required.
  • Must be able to use a computer.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must have a valid drivers license.
  • Must be insurable under Center’s automobile plan.
  • Must be able to travel locally to person’s served homes, training locations and other locations as necessary.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work within the guidelines established in the policies and procedures of the agency and program.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with multidisciplinary staff.
  • Ability to recognize signs and symptoms of abuse.
  • Ability to effectively relate to a variety of individuals, including persons living with a mental illness and/or substance use disorder, persons with developmental disabilities, professional and support staff, and family members of persons served.
  • Ability to problem solve and advocate for persons served.
  • Ability to assist in maintaining a therapeutic milieu.
  • Ability to provide client transportation in the absence of the facility transporter.
