Description/Job Summary

This is an AbilityOne contract which requires most work hours must be performed by a Team Member with Significant Disabilities. Due to the program requirements, this requisition needs to be filled by a person that meets the AbilityOne criteria.


The Food Service Worker II (FSW II)  is responsible for safely performing food service duties assigned by management. Quality customer service is expected to be provided to customers at all times. Knowledge and willingness to learn all aspects of the job as it pertains to this position. Must be able to interact appropriately with customers, government personnel and GCE Staff and Management Staff.  Must perform duties required at one and/or more of the following work stations: Line Server: set up hot and cold food serving stations. Responsible for serving customer proper sized portions, maintaining work station in a clean/sanitized, attractive fashion, pre-meal set-up, and post-meal clean-up of work station. Remove or refill hot and cold food items.  Communicate with cooks, food runners, supervisors when food items get low or run out. Properly store and label food items. Ensure that temperature logs are completed for food items. Assists in the unloading, rotation and checking of expiration dates of food items used in food service operation. FSW II is responsible to perform line server duties, as well as, see to it all line servers on shift also perform duties appropriately. Dining Room: Clean salad and beverage bar areas and clean spills immediately. Clean tables after customer use. Refill napkin, straw, toothpick, and other food service dispensers.  FSW II is responsible to perform dining room duties, as well as, see to it all dining room attendants on shift also perform duties appropriately.  Cut, pan, or plate pastries and desserts. Prepare food items for serving or further cooking. Dish Room/Pots and Pans: Ensure dish machines and pot and pan chemical levels are at acceptable levels. Run automatic dishwasher and refill chemicals as needed. Pre-wash, scrub, sort, separate, and put away dishes and utensils. Scrub pots, pans, and utensils. Clean scullery grease trap as needed. Clean/de-scale dishwashers. FSW II is Responsible to perform dish room duties, as well as, see to it all dish room attendants on shift also perform duties appropriately.


  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year food services or related experience.
  • Meet eligibility requirements for work assignment on specified contract.
  • Understand oral and/or written instructions.
  • Ability to read and quantify recipes, and menus.
  • Must possess knowledge of basic operation of kitchen.
  • Interact appropriately with customers, government personnel and staff members.
  • Must be able to pass organization screening requirements including state or federal background screenings as appropriate.


  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk, and frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is required to be on his/her feet for extended periods of time.
  • The employee frequently must squat, stoop or kneel, reach above the head and reach forward. This job will require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs, and may require occasional lifting and or moving up to 50 pounds.
