Overview

This position is responsible for helping people with disabilities obtain and maintain successful employment. This position will assist with the recruitment of individuals with disabilities seeking employment, will assess the vocational supports and preferences needed for success, will establish a person-centered employment plan, will provide supervision and daily oversight of program operations, will coordinate employment opportunities between individuals with disabilities and employers, and will provide on-site job retention services to ensure training and workplace accommodations are in place to support successful job retention. The Employment Consultant II will be responsible for the following duties:  Create opportunities to educate community referral sources about GCE’s mission and hiring opportunities; Conduct outreach and recruitment activities for adults with disabilities; Serve as outreach liaison between internal/external customers; Conduct initial assessment to identify workplace accommodations and supports needed.  Develop person-centered employment plans.  Facilitate employment opportunities with community-based employers; Assist with the identification and implementation of workplace accommodations and supports;  Provide on-site job coaching/training supports to ensure employer expectations are being met; Assist with the identification of and resolution of existing and potential barriers that impede job retention.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Communications, Marketing, Human Resources or related field and two (2) years of related experience; Associates Degree with four (4) years of experience in working with adults with disabilities in an employment setting; or a High School Diploma/GED with six (6) years of experience working with adults with disabilities in an employment setting.
  • Must have experience assessing and documenting workplace accommodations and supports.
  • Must have experience in employment outreach/recruitment activities.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, good driving record, and be insurable under GCE policy.

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to travel to various community sites and events.
  • The employee will be required to provide oral presentations to small and large audiences.
  • The employee will be required to operate computer equipment and other basic office equipment.
  • The employee may assist with diffusing stressful situations in the workplace using approved conflict resolution techniques.
