Description/Job Summary

This position is on an Ability One contract that requires most of the work hours are performed by employees with disabilities. Due to program requirements, this particular position needs to be filled by a person meeting the Ability One criteria.

Overview

The Laborer will load and unload trucks, and other conveyances, moves supplies and materials to proper location by wheelbarrow or hand truck; stacks materials for storage or binning, collects refuse and salvageable materials, and digs, fills, and tamps earth excavations. Maintain lawns, shrubbery, flowers and trees using power and hand mowers, lawn tractors, clippers, and hand tools. Apply fertilizer, insecticide, and fungicide to lawns, shrubbery, flowers, and trees as needed. Level ground using pick, shovel, tamper and rake, shovels concrete and snow; cleans culverts and ditches, cuts tree and brush; operates power lawnmowers, moves and arranges heavy pieces of office and household furniture, equipment, and appliances, moves heavy pieces of machinery and equipment, spreads sand and salt on icy roads and walkways, and picks up leaves and trash. Responsible for maximizing existing resources to support departmental budget requirement. Attend and successfully complete all mandatory training requirements. Proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and following safety guidelines. Perform duties required by site specific statement of work.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to meet eligibility requirements for work assignment on specified contract.
  • Must be able to comprehend both written and/or verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to work overtime and be on call as required in the support of FM operations.
  • Must be able to pass organization screening requirements, including state or federal background screenings as appropriate.
  • Must have a valid driver's license in the state in which you reside; Must be insurable under LCI's automobile plan.

Physical

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to bend, crouch, walk, climb stairs and ladders, reach above head, sit (to drive) and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must to able to assist in lifting equipment and moving furniture when necessary and will occasionally be required to lift or move up to 75 pounds.
