The Sign Language Interpreter is responsible for performing a wide variety of American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation activities for GCE. Incumbents will be responsible for providing interpreter services for the Information Technology line of business for small and large meetings, events, and one-on-one discussions. Ability to effectively provide interpretation services to a variety of individuals, including persons living with a mental illness and/or substance use disorder, persons with developmental disabilities, family members of persons served, and coworkers. Use ASL to interpret in an accurate manner ensuring that the meaning is conveyed accurately, not editing, summarizing, adding meaning, or omitting. Interpret accurately and remain impartial in adversarial and emotionally charged situations. Understand Information Technology (IT) concepts and maintain familiarity with the general range of services provided by the organization.Researches and understands terminology used in IT projects.
